Our Location & Ethos
Dorchester on Thames
Nestled in the picturesque and historic village of Dorchester-on-Thames in rural South Oxfordshire, Riverside offers a truly unique escape into nature. Since becoming the proud owners of Riverside in 2015, we have been captivated by its charm and the endless possibilities it holds for creating unforgettable experiences. Our idyllic location allows us to offer a seamless paddle-in/paddle-out experience, combining the adventure of being on the water with a level of comfort, convenience, and dining that sets us apart from other overnight paddling destinations and operators.
The magic of the Thame
Convenience and comfort never come at the expense of connecting with the natural world. Our Nordic tipis are thoughtfully situated on the banks of the River Thame, which meanders through our tranquil meadow. Here, you’ll find yourself immersed in a thriving ecosystem, often sharing the space with deer, badgers, and a rich variety of water- and land-based birdlife that call Riverside home. If you’re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of our resident otter, a special reminder of the magic that thrives in this peaceful corner of the world.
Our ethos
While our site and equipment are thoughtfully designed to provide comfort and convenience, they are intentionally temporary. As the seasons change, so too does Riverside. The footprints we leave behind are often gently washed away by the winter floodwaters of the Thame, reminding us of the ever-changing beauty of the natural world.
Your experience with us reflects this delicate balance—a chance to immerse yourself in the ebb and flow of the river. At Riverside, we invite you to embrace the transient connection between adventure and the environment, leaving only your memories behind.
Reconnect with nature
At Riverside, we believe in creating moments that allow you to unwind, recharge, and reconnect—with nature, with others, and with yourself. We invite you to experience the perfect blend of adventure and relaxation in a setting that feels like a world away yet is wonderfully close to home.
